Smoke alarm

Today the alarm went off during play time. 

We all had to line up really quickly and go outside. 

We waited on the courts, in the rain. 

Luckily Mrs Norrish grabbed some umbrellas on her way out. 

Half of us waited under Mrs Norrish's black umbrella and half of us waited under Mrs White's red umbrella. 

Luckily we have a small class so we could all fit.

Everything was OK and we got to go back to class. 

Some of us were a bit scared but we were all very brave. 

When we got back to class we wrote some stories about it.

We have been working really hard on our writing. 

When we write we;

1. Draw a picture plan.
2. Say our sentence out loud. 
3. Use our alphabet card to sound out words and to find high frequency words.
4. Try to add a WOW word
5. We put a full stop at the end of our sentence.

Literacy

We have been learning some new literacy games to practise some of the skills we have been learning. 

We match the letters on the blocks to build our high frequency words. 

We use chalk outside to practise the shapes we need for letters.

What shapes can you see?

We use alphabet stamps to make words and practise sounds.

We use magnetic letters to make words.

We have lots of alphabet games so we can practise finding the shapes of letters, putting the alphabet in order and matching lowercase and uppercase letters.

What are your favourite literacy activities?

Numeracy

Room 3 love learning about numbers. 

We have been learning some new ways to help us practice our number knowledge. 

We can use whiteboard pens on laminated cards.

We can count out blocks.

We can use a shoelace to sew the formation of the numbers.

We can read and write numbers. We like using the hundreds board to help us. 

We can connect blocks to make groups.

Time

We have been learning about time.

I like 5 o'clock because I get to watch a movie.	I like 3 o'clock because it is home time at school.
